Sorry

it's been a while since my last post (my first post actually)... kinda busy these past few weeks...

well just want to share something that happened to me this week...

i am enrolled in a summer class taking up one of my major subjects because i need to, you probably know why, right? haha...

we had our first exam yesterday (imagine, we only have one week left and still have three exams to take!) which was supposed to be taken Wednesday of last week... sadly, our instructor got mad at us because of misunderstanding...

the story...

wednesday, the day of our supposed exam came... we still had a discussion in the morning since the exam was scheduled in the afternoon. while we are in class, we begged our instructor to move the exam because we are not ready yet... we even told him the note written on the syllabus that 'the schedule of the exam and other requirements would be decided by the class'... we were laughing hard because our classmate who was doing the pleading thing so funny...

however, we we're not prepared for the next scene...

out instructor blotted out 'am i not part of the class?... all i'm thinking is is the good for all of you... if i'm going to move the exam, the interval from exam to exam would be tight and you might have a difficulty studying... besides, i've already told you the schedule of the exam a week ago, so you should now be prepared...' after saying that, our instructor get on with the discussion...

after he finishes the class, he walked out and said 'fine, exam on friday class hours...' and we're like 'what?' we got what we wanted but on the negative side of it...

first... the supposed 4 hour exam was reduced to two hours...

second... our instructor is mad at us and its something that makes the situation heavy and difficult...

after that incident, some of our classmates waited for him to say sorry... but none of them succeeded because our instructor won't show up or speak up to us...

friday came... he did not show up... the janitor just posted a message that says 'exam cancelled moved on may 5 (monday)... make up class also cancelled' and we were like 'what? but we only have 9 days until the end of the summer? why? doesn't he want to see us?'

we all went home sad, confused, and somehow guilty...

while others were irritated because of the attitude of our instructor? but who could blame him? we were wrong in the first place... being so selfish and all that... we must have hurt really hurt him...

monday came and we had the exam... everyone was quiet until the end... still, there's heaviness in the place and seems that everything is still not okay...

today...

we had our very first discussion since the incident... well, the discussion is okay, the class is okay, but not as good and jolly and easy as before... most of us are just quiet and afraid to say something... our instructor also says some bitter words which makes us sad all the more...

this is not okay anymore! and so, I, together with my two friends came up with a decision... this is a class problem and since we are part of the class, we have to make a move... we decided to go to our instructor and say sorry... just sorry, nothing more nothing less... if he accepts it then great, if not, at least we've tried and did out part...

while nearing to our instructor's room, my heart pounds so much... i don't know how to say it... it's just a simple word... but with a lot of feelings and meanings on it... we knocked on the door, no answer was heard... we waited, roam around the whole college to find him, but still we failed...

so we went back to his room, knocked again... silence is still there...

and so, we just decided to leave a note... just when i'm about to write a note, the door opened... (our instructor is sleeping that's why he did not heard the knock :P)

i'm startled... confused... caught unprepared... but still i stood up... i don't know how i managed to say it but i said 'sir, we're here to say sorry' he replied 'why, have you done something to me that you should be sorry about?' again, i was silenced by that...

and when i came back to my senses i said, 'well, not actually sir but this is a class problem and we're still part of the class...' (my two friends are maybe as nervous as me that's why they did not manage to speak to our instructor)...

relief came when he said... 'oh that, don't think about that, that's over...'

i was so like 'i wish and i command myself that i heard right'... that was the most wonderful words i heard on this day... it brought relief and joy to me... but i still have mixed emotions at that time...

i just hope and pray that everything would be okay tomorrow... if not, i don't know,, maybe i would still be sad, but not as sad as before...

thank you sir so much! i learned a lot from this experience...

you want to know what they are? hmmm...

"if you fail to prepare then you are preparing to fail" i don't know who said this but our instructor quoted this to us the day he got mad... makes sense right... it pierced deep in my heart...

"never take things for granted" maybe this is the reason why we were not prepared, we take the course for granted and that we don't spend considerable time studying the concepts everyday and practicing them... now i learned, and would take action... study everyday... do not procastinate!

"never be selfish" before taking any action, consider everything, not just yourself but how someone might take it... this would avoid any misunderstanding and all that...

"always respect the people in authority" maybe one of the reasons why our instructor was deeply hurt is because we did not show respect (not that we were really disrespectful, just did not consider him) in some ways...

and lastly...

"learn to stand up, admit your mistakes and say sorry" because you know what, after doing so, i felt really really relieved and light... so now, whatever happens tomorrow (or should i say later cause its morning already), i know i've done my part to the situation...

i really learned a lot... maybe this is the reason why God let me experienced this...

thank you sir...

and thank you Lord...

have a great day guys...

just posted this to share everything that happened today,,,

what a day!

until next time...

The world belongs to dreamers... Well, if you don’t have a vision, you will perish…We sometimes forget how important it is to have a dream… a vision. Try to think of it, if people don’t have plans for their life, how can they move on to the next step when they don’t even know what or where the next step is. I remember when our pastor shared to us one part on the story of Alice in Wonderland. When Alice was confused what road to take, the right or the left, the cat said to her, ‘It depends on where you want to go, where do you want to go?’ then Alice replied, ‘I don’t know’. ‘In that case’, says the cat, ‘any of the roads will do.’ We easily get carried away by the things around us because we don’t have a vision, we don’t have any plans. We’re not sure why we’re here. We don’t have a picture of what we will be.

How can we have the vision? How can we fulfill it? First, you have to see your purpose clearly. We must be clear to know what we want. We have to see it. Martin Luther once said, ‘if a man doesn’t find something to die for, he is not fit to live.’ That’s it; we have to paint a picture of our life on our minds because we act on the basis of what we see. We move towards the dominant picture in our mind. In fact, we are visual people. When someone said the word apple, we see an apple in our mind, not A-P-P-L-E. See your purpose clearly. We must be specific on what we want to become. What’s your purpose? What’s your dream?

The next thing is to want your purpose desperately. That’s why it’s important to see our purpose because how can we want it if we don’t know it. Right? We must be desperate for our dreams. We must focus ourselves to that goal… to the vision. Focus brings velocity and blinds our eyes from obstacles so that we may not see them as something that can hinder us. How desperate are you on your dream? Are you as desperate as catching your breath after minutes of being under water?

See your purpose clearly… want your purpose desperately… accomplish your purpose wholeheartedly… It says here, accomplish. We don’t just start; we have to finish the race. Just like in a marathon, it’s not about being the first, it’s finishing the run. Accomplishing your purpose doesn’t need involvement but commitment. Being involved and being committed are two different things. To give you a picture of this, here’s a story:

Chicken and Pig are best of friends. One day, they came across a banner which says ‘Feeding 1000 people with ham and egg.’ Then chicken said, ‘Hey friend pig, I think we could contribute there, we can help them, I will give my eggs and ham from you.’ Pig fell silent then he said, ‘you know friend, it’s easy for you to say that. Because for you, it’s only involvement, for me, it’s commitment.

Accomplish your purpose wholeheartedly…. Are you committed or just involved?

The last thing is to follow your purpose faithfully. The key is to NEVER GIVE UP! Every man wants to be remembered for something good, right? Be remembered because you are a finisher… you are a winner… I also have a story for this….

One night, as the son is studying, he said to his dad, ‘Dad college is so hard, I don’t want to study anymore.’ ‘I understand son, that’s normal, don’t give up, you can do that.’ The son was still discouraged and said, ‘but dad, it’s too hard, I’ll never make it.’ Then the father said, ‘you remember Thomas Edison? He encountered over 1000 mistakes before he successfully invented the fluorescent lamp (I can just imagine his assistant saying, ‘sir, we can’t make it, this is already our 889th try’ but Edison will just laugh and say, ‘at least, we know 889 ways on how it won’t work… let’s try other ways where it might work…’). He did not give up. You remember Abraham Lincoln? Did you know that he had gone so many failures and defeats before finally becoming a president? He was rejected a lot of times and even failed in business. But he continued and became one of the presidents of US.’ The son felt somewhat encouraged, the father continued, ‘Now son, do you know Elmo McKlingky?’ The son shook his head. The father just smiled and said ‘You see son, you don’t remember him, it’s because he gave up.’

You want to be remembered? DON’T GIVE UP… Follow your purpose faithfully. Finishing the race needs that determination. No matter how many obstacles there may be, believe that you can do it. And be ready to say… As Paul said, ‘I have finished the race, I have kept my faith, I’m ready to die.’

See your purpose… want it desperately… accomplish it wholeheartedly… follow it faithfully… Never give up… Have faith… God won’t fail you…

...by the way, the stories are not from me, I just heard and got inspired by them...
